Half Pint, Volume 18 ✨
Turning the extractor fan off after you finish cooking - Katie N, half pint reader
Hello! My last few weeks have consisted of listening to a LOT of Bad Bunny, drying off my umbrella by the radiator & taking advantage of chilling out on the recent rainy weekends.
Some recent half pints below.
Half Pint #1 - The Kindle
So here is my half pint that I’d never thought would be one. Up until a month ago, I was firmly anti-Kindle for all the usual reasons. I like reading physical books and saw a Kindle as just another screen. But I get it! It took a trip to Australia, limited luggage and the fact that I prioritise reading when I travel but didn’t have the space. While I’ll always prefer a physical book, I now completely see the appeal. It’s surprisingly easy on the eyes, a more productive alternative to my usual screen time and takes up hardly any space.
Half Pint #2 -Cinema Trips
Cinema trips particularly peak at this time of year: it’s Oscar season, the ‘big’ movies are out and the weather is crap. For me, there is a specific combination I love. Visiting my local cinema on a Sunday afternoon, sleepy but not too sleepy, maybe a bit hungover but not TOO hungover. Generally, I enjoy most films I see in the cinema simply because of the ritual of being there. It is also fun when your local cinema has a bit of character, my local is a Curzon located in the arches of Camden. Another favourite is the Lexi Cinema in Kensal Rise - London’s only social enterprise cinema run by volunteers (epic).
Half Pint #3 - The Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny is a small, boxy 4x4 and I get inexplicably excited every time I see one. The retro design is quirky and a bit different. Annoyingly they have been discontinued in the UK, but you can still spot one from time to time. I was overjoyed to see lots of Jimnys in Australia where they’re clearly very popular. There is something fun when you spot a funky car - it’s got that YELLOW car effect.
Come back next week where I’ll share an old form of communication that absolutely deserves its own half pint.
Ciao!

I want a Jimmy.
