Half Pint Volume 21 ✨
My cherry stone heat bag before bed - Lucy B
Hello! Welcome back to half pint. Yes it has been a whole MONTH. But I am back with a bumper edition: five brand new half pints, plus a roundup of your contributions so far. Spring is in the air and the joy-spotting is very much back.
Half Pint #1 - Wisteria
We have got to that magical time of year where we are blessed with sightings of wisteria for a few weeks. Nothing quite like standing outside a stranger’s beautiful London townhouse mesmerised by the cascading lilac blooms.
Half Pint #2- When a REALLY good song comes on during a run
This one is for the runners. Sometimes runs can be TOUGH, those days when the run just does not hit. But even when the run is below par, a great song can come on and in mere seconds my mood is UP. A few of my current running favourites include:
NUEVAYoL - Bad Bunny
Life is a Rollercoaster - Ronan Keating
Man! I Feel Like Woman! - Shania Twain
Half Pint #3- Banana Pancakes
I have recently been switching up my morning eggs and toast for banana pancakes and oh BOY they are good. Particularly enjoyable eaten in bed. Particularly delicious when the bananas are super ripe and look sort of scary. Here is the recipe that has been working well:
Ingredients
2 x ripe bananas
1/2 cup of flour (8 tablespoons)
2 x eggs
A tiny bit of vanilla extract/essence
Toppings
Maple Syrup
Greek Yoghurt (preferably the cheaper, thinner version)
Berries
Half Pint #4- Med Salleh
Med Salleh is a Malaysian street food restaurant which has just opened down the road in Kentish Town. It is incredibly difficult to get a table (thanks to some extremely high praise from Giles Coren) so we opted for a 5:30pm reservation and to our surprise the restaurant was packed. The standouts for me were the roti canai (beyond comforting) and the seafood laksa - YUM.
Half Pint #5- Loan the Look
I recently booked an appointment to try on a bunch of dresses for the weddings I am going to later this year at Loan the Look. If the sartorial side of weddings can seem daunting, I am a big fan of the rental dress market in London and have had a handful of successful experiences (yes I have heard some horror stories too). My top tip is to always try on the dresses before renting so this was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Located in Notting Hill, it has a fab collection for lots of different occasions.
